General Construction Foreman (Concrete & Pipe)

Summary/Objective

Will oversee crew, logistics, scheduling, and project construction. Responsible for effective communication with crew, engineers, landowners, inspectors, and corporate office to ensure project success in a professional manner. Enforce company policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

– Coordinate materials, equipment, and labor needed for daily tasks.

– Follow and maintain all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.

– Lead daily meeting assigning tasks to crew members.

– Communicate with customers, subcontractors, and employees on updates of the project.

– Complete daily paperwork and reports.

– Promote a safe working culture for all employees.

– Job hazard assessments – Daily.

– Conduct safety and toolbox talks – Daily.

– Injuries reported immediately and/or contact the main office within 2 hours.

– Equipment damage reported within 24 hours.

– Report near misses within 24 hours.

– Professionally represent the company in meetings.

– Paperwork/Heavy Job (Electronic Timekeeping system)

– Submit accurate timesheets daily.

– Complete and submit job required documentation.

– Ensure Pre-job inspections are completed.

– Assure progress reports are turned in on schedule.

– Follow project goals, construction methods, and performance standards within company policy and contract specifications.

– Order and coordinate delivery schedules of all concrete materials.

– Maintain a clean job site and make sure all tools and equipment are properly cleaned and stored.

– Utilize company survey equipment to ensure proper grade, measurements, and alignments.

– Interpreting blueprints and reading survey stakes to establish correct grades, re-bar sizing, spacing, and placing forms.

– Install sub-base granular material, anchors and templates, reinforcement steel, and various types of forms for correct concrete placement.

– Set forms to desired elevation, depth, and alignment in accordance with project plans and specifications.

– Excavate/trench to subgrade/finish grade

– Trench Safety

– Knowledge of installation of RCP, HDPE, Ductile Iron, PVC products.

– Knowledge of negative and positive pressure testing.

– Knowledge of installing valves, MJ fittings, hydrants, bends, and connections.

– Manhole, Headwall, wingwall, inlet structure installations

– Must be willing to travel.

– Must be willing to self-perform general labor work as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics

– Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and proper operation skills for equipment and tools.

– Knowledge of construction sequences and measurements.

– Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools.

– Basic survey and GPS experience.

– Knowledge of public safety and security issues and regulations.

– Basic computer skills.

– Knowledge of HCSS/Heavy Job a plus.

– Communication and problem-solving skills.

– Basic math skills.

– Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
